Selection of stirrers for different media
2024-07-10Agitators are usually used to stir liquid media, but due to the different viscosities of the media, it can affect the efficiency and uniformity of stirring, so different types of stirring equipment need to be selected.
Due to the significant impact of liquid viscosity on the stirring state, selecting based on the viscosity of the stirring medium is a fundamental method. Several typical mixers have different ranges of use depending on the viscosity. The order of use of various agitators with increasing viscosity is thrust, turbine, slurry, anchor, and screw type. Here, the thrust type is divided more finely, and it is proposed to use low speed for large capacity liquids and high speed for small capacity liquids.
The selection diagram does not specify the restrictions on the use of slurry types. In fact, the scope of use of various slurry types overlaps. For example, slurry types are commonly used at low viscosity due to their simple structure and the ability to change flow patterns with baffles. Due to its strong convective circulation ability, turbulent diffusion, and shear force, the turbine type is almost the most widely used slurry type.
When choosing a mixer equipment, users should also consider factors such as the viscosity of the medium and choose the appropriate one, so as to achieve the mixing purpose well.
